David Levenson MA ACA
David is a high-performance boardroom coach, executive and career strategy coach. He is an authority on corporate governance and leadership development, and works with boards of directors and senior executives as a coach, trainer, advisor and facilitator.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant in London with Deloitte in 1984, David worked in CFO roles in the retail and property industries before moving into the social housing sector in 1992. During the next twenty-two years he was Group Finance Director for three leading London-based landlords and a housing finance consultant to the Regulator of Social Housing and registered landlords across the country. He was also the CFO for a UK property investment fund managed by HSBC Investment Bank.

David’s career has spanned periods of work in the UK, Europe and USA. He coaches senior executives for one of India’s two largest industrial and energy conglomerates, based in Mumbai. His personal clients have diverse backgrounds including from local and expatriate communities located in Cyprus, France, Hong Kong, India, Luxembourg, Solomon Islands and Thailand.
A non-executive director for more than twenty years, David presently serves on the board of a NHS mental health foundation trust where he is the senior independent director and chair of the audit and governance committee.
David delivers the Board Readiness and High Performing Board Director courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Academy for Professional Development. He has developed a proprietary system using an outcomes-focused method for measuring the collective effectiveness of boards called Board Measures.
David is an accomplished public speaker and writer. He writes articles for the ICAEW Corporate Governance community and the Governance Actually series for Inside Housing magazine. His thoughts about good to great governance will be published as a coaching manual in 2025, entitled ‘Ten Steps to Become a High Performing Board’.

David’s interests span history, politics and public philosophy. He was awarded a post-graduate degree in Jewish Education in 2018, fulfilling a 40 year promise to himself to go back to studying. He gives talks and adult education courses on a variety of topics.
David spends any spare time he has on the bowls green, ‘two hours of friendly mindful competition with no distractions’, watching cricket at Lords and other grounds, reading biographies and historical novels, going to the theatre and music concerts. He and his wife Judy like long coastal and country walks and prioritising whatever time they have left over with their six grandchildren.
